If the database is still there (search for wp_newsletter_* tables) the subscribers are still there. If those tables are missing, you should find a database backup.

Ok just found the option to enable the antibot option under “subscription steps” It was not enabled so I enabled it but I would like to add a simple captcha also so this issue does not happen again....
